【indications】
clarithromycin is indicated for the following infections caused by pathogenic bacteria that are sensitive to it, including：
1. lower respiratory tract infections: e.g. bronchitis, pneumonia, etc.;
2. upper respiratory tract infections: e.g. pharyngitis, sinusitis, etc.;
3. skin and soft tissue infections: e.g. folliculitis, cellulitis, and erysipelas;
4. topical or diffuse infections caused by mycobacterium avium or mycobacterium intracellulare. topical infections caused by mycobacterium turtles, mycobacterium accidentalis or mycobacterium kansasii;
5. clarithromycin is indicated for the prevention of mixed infections caused by disseminated mycobacterium avium in hiv-infected patients with cd4 lymphocyte counts less than or equal to 100/mm3;
6. clarithromycin is also indicated for the eradication of h. pylori in the presence of gastric acid inhibitors, thus reducing the recurrence of duodenal ulcers;
7. treatment of odontogenic infections.。
【usage and dosage】
dispersible tablets, taken orally/swallowed directly, or taken by shaking and dispersing an appropriate amount in 100 ml of water.
orally, two doses recommended for adults per day, two tablets (0.25 g) each time, twice daily. for severe infections, the dose is increased to four tablets (0.5 g) per day, twice daily. used for 5~14 days, and 6~14 days for acquired pneumonia and sinusitis.
for patients with renal impairment with creatinine clearance less than 30 ml/min, the dose of clarithromycin should be reduced by half, i.e., two tablets (0.25 g) once daily, and two tablets (0.25 g) twice daily for severe infection, and the continuous treatment should not be more than 14 days.
for mycobacterium infection, the recommended dose for adults is four tablets (0.5 g) twice daily. treatment of disseminated mac infection in aids patients should be continued until clinically effective, and clarithromycin should be used in combination with other anti-mycobacterium drugs.
continuous medication is also required for the treatment of non-tuberculous mycobacterial infections.
the recommended dose for mac prophylaxis is four tablets (0.5g) twice daily for adults.
the dose of clarithromycin for the treatment of odontogenic infections is two tablets (0.25 g) twice daily for 5 days.
the recommended dose for the removal of h. pylori infection is：
triple combinations: clarithromycin 0.5 g twice daily; lansoprazole 30 mg twice daily; amoxicillin 1 g twice daily; for 10 days. alternatively, clarithromycin 0.5 g twice daily, amoxicillin 1 g twice daily, and omeprazole 20 mg twice daily; for 7-10 days.
double combinations: clarithromycin 0.5 g three times daily：omeprazole 40 mg daily; for 14 days, followed by omeprazole 20 mg or 40 mg daily for 14 days. alternatively, clarithromycin 0.5 g three times daily, in combination with lansoprazole 60 mg daily, for 14 days. additional gastric acid inhibitors are required for complete ulcer healing.
